The Caritas Bamboo Forest Project successfully conducted a comprehensive training program on habitat restoration through bamboo propagation and the integration of agroforestry systems.

Held at the JASAC Pastoral Office in Jaro, Iloilo City last April 16-18, 2024, the program attracted 21 participants from the communities of JASAC (Jaro Archdiocesan Social Action Center, Inc.), CASAC (Capiz Archdiocesan Social Action Center/Caritas Capiz), and SAC Ubuntu- Diocese of San Carlos.

Participants gained in-depth knowledge of both ecosystem restoration through bamboo propagation and integrating agroforestry systems. They acquired practical skills in bamboo propagation, plantation establishment, and management.

A workshop on agroecology principles and farm design also equipped them to apply sustainable practices for environmental restoration and food security. By learning to align farm design with biodiversity assessments and soil analyses, participants discovered how to optimize land use while preserving and enhancing natural resources.

Overall, the training fostered collaboration and capacity building among participants, paving the way for effective habitat restoration and sustainable land management practices within their communities.
