Caritas Philippines, the social action arm of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines, strongly expresses its deep concern about the recent development of the ongoing search for Pastor Apollo Quiboloy in Davao City.

The clashes between law enforcement and members of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC), which have resulted in injuries and the tragic death of a KOJC member, underscore the urgent need for a peaceful and just resolution.

“We condemn the violence and the unrest that have marred the authorities’ attempt to serve justice,” said Bishop Jose Colin Bagaforo, President of Caritas Philippines. “These events remind us that the pursuit of truth and justice must never be at the expense of human life and dignity.

Caritas Philippines renews its call for Pastor Quiboloy to heed the due process of law and fully cooperate with the ongoing investigations. “Evasion of arrest, or delay of justice merely prolongs the pain and suffering of the victims who have bravely come out into the open,” Bishop Bagaforo said. “It is crucial that Mr. Quiboloy and his supporters respect the rule of law and allow the legal process to take its due course without interference.”

The organization also urges law enforcement to exercise maximum restraint and continue observing due process and human rights. “We recognize the difficult task faced by our law enforcement personnel, but it is essential that they conduct their operations with care, ensuring the safety and dignity of everyone involved,” Bishop Bagaforo added.

“We renew our appeal to all those involved: no one is above the law, and justice must prevail, not through violence, but through adherence to the rule of law and respect for human dignity,” Bishop Bagaforo concluded.
