In observance of National Seafarers Day on September 29, Caritas Philippines extends its heartfelt recognition to the hundreds of thousands of Filipino seafarers who play a crucial role in the global maritime industry and our nation’s economy.
“Our seafarers are the unsung heroes of our economy and quiet ambassadors of our faith. On this special day, we call on all Filipinos to join us in prayer for their safety, well-being, and continued success,” said Caritas Philippines president Bishop Jose Colin Bagaforo.
The social action arm of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) encourages everyone to remember these brave men and women in their personal prayers, acknowledging the sacrifices they make by spending months away from their families.
The economic contributions of Filipino seafarers are substantial and vital. Year after year, they contribute billions of dollars in remittances, supporting countless Filipino families and boosting local economies across the archipelago.
