Caritas Philippines, the Catholic Church’s national social action arm, today launched an expanded regional mentoring program aimed at strengthening diocesan fund management and resource mobilization capabilities across the country.
The initiative, operating under Caritas Philippines’ “Alay Kapwa” program in partnership with the Coalition of the Willing (COW), commenced its first mentoring session at Betania Retreat House in Baguio City. Seven archdioceses and dioceses from Northern and Central Luzon—Nueva Segovia, San Jose, Ilagan, Tarlac, Iba, Legaspi, and Virac—are participating in this inaugural session.
The comprehensive training program focuses on three key areas:
- Implementation strategies for the expanded fund campaign
- Compliance with DSWD guidelines and financial management best practices
- Mastery of the Caritas data management system
The program also facilitates peer learning, enabling dioceses to share successful strategies and learn from each other’s experiences in community resource mobilization.
Following the Luzon session, the program will expand to Visayas and Mindanao, with upcoming sessions scheduled in the archdioceses and dioceses of Jaro, Kidapawan, and Butuan. This nationwide rollout demonstrates Caritas Philippines’ commitment to strengthening the Church’s social action capabilities across all regions.
