At Caritas Philippines, we’re committed to improving the lives of those in need across our nation. We’re excited to share the successful completion of several initiatives that have made a significant impact on communities in Davao.
In a collaborative effort with The Roman Catholic Bishop of Tagum, Inc. (RCBTI) – Diocese of Tagum, we recently celebrated the turnover of our Spring Water Development Project to the Mandaya and Mansaka tribes in Barangay Langgawisan, Maragusan, Davao de Oro. This project has addressed a critical issue of water scarcity, providing these indigenous communities with much-needed access to potable water.
But our efforts didn’t stop there. Recognizing the lack of electricity in the area, we distributed essential items including solar lights to improve household safety and quality of life for these families.
Our commitment to supporting vulnerable communities extends beyond basic necessities. In the municipalities of Kapalong and Nabunturan, Davao del Norte, we implemented Cash for Work programs to assist farmers whose agricultural lands were damaged by flooding. These interventions have enabled farmers to recover their livelihoods by clearing and preparing their farmlands for cultivation once again.
None of this would have been possible without the generous support of our partners. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Caritas Internationalis, Pascual Foundation (through Cáritas Española), and the Local Government Unit for their invaluable contributions to these initiatives.
At Caritas Philippines, we believe in the power of community and collaboration to create lasting change. These projects in Davao are a testament to what we can achieve when we work together to address the needs of our most vulnerable citizens.
As we move forward, we remain committed to our mission of bringing hope, dignity, and sustainable solutions to communities across the Philippines. Stay tuned for more updates on our ongoing projects and how you can get involved in making a difference.
Together, we can build a brighter, more equitable future for all Filipinos.
